Diocesan Order of Merit 2020-2021

Instituted in 1955 by Bishop Gérard-Marie Coderre, the second bishop of the diocese, the Order of Diocesan Merit has since been awarded to more than 1,000 individuals, couples, families, religious communities and community groups.

"In our diocesan Church, the expression of recognition of the commitments of individuals and groups is part of the great movement of thanksgiving that has been a source of joy in the Church of Christ since the beginning. In the Church, in fact, gestures and words of gratitude are a source of joy both for the people for whom they are intended and for those who are the authors or witnesses of them. For this reason, in addition to the joy it brings, the awarding of a distinction in recognition of a contribution of outstanding quality and generosity is an encouragement to all the members of a community to place themselves ever more resolutely at the service of their brothers and sisters, both within the Church community and in civil society. " (From Official Communiqué #14, November 6, 2013)

The 2019-2020 event had been cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. At that time, the steering committee decided to postpone the awards ceremony until this year. Given the ongoing situation, there were no new nominations. Exceptionally this year, the honours will be celebrated in the parishes. Congratulations to all!
